Protocol for running SARSE in Virtual box on a Windows machine

Download Virtual box (install): http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

Download Ubuntu linux (save to desktop): http://www.ubuntu.com/ getubuntu/download

Now run Virtual box. Click New (follow wizard)

  • Set Base Memory Size to 1 GB (depending on the Memory of your computer)
  • Click New, Next, Next
    • Set Image size to 4 GB, Next, Finish
  • Next, Finish

Click Settings

  • Choose CD/DVD-ROM
    • Click Mount CD
    • Click ISO Image file
    • Click select file
    • Find ubuntu on the Desktop

Click start (wait for Ubuntu to start up)

On the Ubuntu desktop click Install

  • Choose language, Forward
  • Choose location
  • Choose keyboard
  • Prepare disk space (Guided - use entire disk = the disk Image that you allocated above)
  • Name and password
  • Install
  • Restart

Install Java

  • Choose Applications/Add-Remove...
    • Choose All available apps
    • Search: java
    • tjeck Sun java 5.0 runtime
    • Apply changes, Apply

Get SARSE

Open FireFox

Download sarse: http://sarse.ku.dk/

Extract to desktop

Open terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal)

On the command line write:

cd Desktop/sarse-1.37/linux/bin

./SARSE (the program will start)
